17 years old pioneer music video platform, Channel O, held its annual Music Video Awards for 2014 in Johannesburg in South Africa penultimate week. The event ended on a very disappointing note for
Nigeria’s musical export, Davido, as he lost in all the categories he was nominated.
However, it was a sweet story for his compatriots – Tiwa Savage, KCEE and others who returned with honours. On the other hand, Diamond and Cassper Nyovest where the shining stars as they went away with most of the awards.
Tiwa Savage emerged the Most gifted female from her hit song Eminado, Olamide became Most Gifted West category for his hit single ‘Turn Up’ while Kcee became the Most Gifted Duo for ‘Pull Over’ ft Wizkid. Davido, Cassper Nyovest and Skhanda Republic commander K.O, had earned impressive five nominations each.
According to an apparently excited Channel O Africa Manager, Leslie Kasumba, in his statement before the event, “2014 has been an incredible year for music and our strong performance lineup is testament. We have tons on surprise performances in store, as we celebrate the talent that fuels our diverse music industry. This year’s Channel O Africa Music Video Awards is once again going to be a night to remember”.
